The way people ventilate their workspace environment is evolving. People spend most of their time indoors where concentrations of some pollutants are sometimes higher than outdoors.[1] Traditional methods of keeping windows open and cleaning desktops needs to be supplemented to ensure maximum hygiene. It is not ideal to have windows left open constantly in settings such as hospitals and offices. An air purifier is a clever measure to clean air. The device can be kept on your desktop or in any room at home.

Air purifiers are not an entirely new invention they originated as masks for firefighters hundreds of years ago and have developed today to filter out particulate matter (PM) and virus-laden aerosols.
Don’t let Allergy Season Take Over The Office
Allergy season has embarked on our surroundings and the lag from the cold and flu season is still present. Those with Hay fever feel self-conscious when the need to sneeze arises. Similarly, a common cold can appear to be a more serious virus. It has been recently proven that portable air purifiers can reduce the level of particulate matter 2.5 by 45% on average after 90 minutes. [1] Particulate matter (PM) is the term used to describe the mixture of solid particles and liquid droplets in the air, examples include dust, ash and pollen.[2] Home air purifiers are easy to set up, can be placed where most people spend their time and can be relocated. The only installation needed is a common socket and change of filter when needed.
Air purifiers release negatively charged ions into the air. The most common type of home air purifier is the high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) method. HEPA filters work through a fan which forces the air through a fine mesh that traps harmful particles. [3] Dense air gets trapped in the filter and clean air blows out the other side. The filter is a heavy fibre matt. [4] Using a HEPA filter can remove most airborne particles that might make allergies worse.[5] Pollen, the particle that triggers hay fever is typically 10 microns[6] a HEPA filter air cleaner is tested on particles as small as 0.3 microns. As we approach the summer months the pollen count in the air is much higher. This is when those who suffer from Hay fever present with symptoms. By catching the pollen and dust particles in the air the prevention of coughing and sneezing can slow down the spread of any viruses.

The design eliminates the need for traditional mechanisms, instead using the laws of physics and the sitter’s body weight to offer perfect recline for each individual sitter. Get the sitting experience you deserve while working from home.
Height Adjustable Desk
Sitting all day is not the healthiest of options, that’s why we recommenced height adjustable desks to be used in conjunction with ergonomic chairs. Standing for small periods of the day can have significant results for your wellbeing like boosting your energy levels, increasing your awareness and even weight loss.
The benefits are real and can’t be ignored a sit/stand desk could be the key to lowering your risk of heart disease and becoming a more productive staff member bursting with energy.
Don’t Just Capture Bacteria in the Air, Kill It
A HEPA filter air purifier can be used in your office on the floor, smaller devices can be placed on your desk, in your living room or office space at home. They are also ideal for gyms, care centres and restaurants. If you live or work with a smoker an air cleaner can clear out the smokey air. An air purifier can manage DNA viruses, bacterial spores, fungi, dust mite allergens and odours. You can ensure safety and protection coming back to the office with colleagues from different households potentially harming the workspace environment. Air purifiers don’t just capture bacteria in the air but kill it. The product is not imposing and fits nicely into a desktop setting. Be sure to select the right size air purifier for your desk or room requirements.
The caveat with air purifiers is that they are a supplementary measure. Some particles that are large like dust and pet hairs, are too large to be internally transferred into the filter and they stick surfaces. Similarly, some methods of air purifiers such an ionizer make the particles stick to surfaces. Ultimately, the best form of hygiene is to vacuum and wipe down surface areas. Additionally, windows still need to be opened regularly to allow for natural air ventilation and eliminate air pollution.
Effects of Air Purifiers and Covid 19
A recent study examining the effects of air purifiers and Covid 19 showed that the devices have the potential to reduce the exposure of healthcare works to virus-laden aerosols and serve as a useful supplement to other protective measures. [1] Another study recently proved that air purifiers are the most effective technologies available to cleaning the surrounding air of harmful pollutants of both indoor and outdoor origin. [2] The Fellowes Areamax DB55 Air Purifier 9401501 offers a standard size air cleaner which has a night mode function with dimmed lights. The filter with AeraSafe antimicrobial treatment safely removes 99.97% of airborne particles as small as 0.3 microns. This model comes with a childlock feature and indicators of when to change filters. The DB55 is 604 mm X 403 mm and weighs 4.7kg. The Fellowes Aeramax DB5 Air Purifier 9401001 has the same features as the Felllows DB55 although the shape is different. This narrower model is 775mm X 287mm and weighs 6kg. The Fellowes AeraMax DX5 Air Purifier 9392701 is a more sleek product which is 250 mm X 285 mm. The built-in AeraSafe feature protects from the growth of odour causing bacteria and the AeraSmart technology monitors the air quality and displays the quality of your air using blue, amber and red lights.
